I first met Saikou Camara through his book last summer while flying to Dallas Fort-Worth for a conference from Washington D.C. This was the great opportunity I finally got to read his book. Saikou’s book took me back to my childhood memories of growing up in Banjul, The Gambia, West Africa to migrating to the US. Thinking that was the best thing that ever happened, then I met him in person in Fall of 2018 during his book tour in the Washington DC metropolitan area.
Saikou’s ability to bring his humbling life story is not only limited to in his book, but much more in his face to face interactions. From his lecture about choosing the right picture for his book’s front cover to our marketing students, and to his transition to how Dr. king’s father sent him to Morehouse College be a “dreamer” in the freshman class, left our students with a lifelong lesson in less than an hour’s lecture!”
